Women's Soccer Inks One More Recruit
BUFFALO, NY - Head coach Jean-A. Tassy announced the signing of his sixth player to a National Letter of Intent for the upcoming 2005 season, welcoming Nikki Wilson (El Paso, TX/Franklin) to the University at Buffalo women's soccer program. Wilson, a midfielder, was an All-City first-team honoree as well as a four-year starter and three- year captain for Franklin High School. She was also a four-year captain for her club team, the El Paso Storm, and was a member of the Colorado Girls Soccer Academy tournament team. She was a starter for the '87 New Mexico Olympic Development Program team the last four years, which won the Region IV ODP Championship. "Nikki's vision and tactical awareness will help her adjust to the college game quickly," Tassy said. "Nikki is very passionate about the game. She is a very versatile player who will bring tremendous speed to our attack. She will be unstoppable and will be problematic to opponent's defenses. We can't wait to see her in action on the pitch." Wilson was also a standout cross country and track and field runner. She was a member of the Junior Olympic Championship 3,200-meter relay team. She will look to enroll in the business program at UB. Wilson joins Jenessa Banwell (Toronto, Ontario/Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute), Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/Victor), Melissa Klein (North Bellmore, NY/Mepham), Brooke McCalla (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton), Julia Teskey (Markham, Ontario/Brother Andre) and Andrea Vescio (Niagara Falls, Ontario/A.N. Myer) as Buffalo's Class of 2009. Buffalo finished 7-11-1 and in ninth place in the Mid-American Conference under Tassy in 2004. |
