Women's Soccer Has Six Signed For Next Fall

Bulls Program Adds Additional Talent

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team signed six players during the spring signing period. These six will attend UB next season and begin competing with the Bulls next fall.

Robin Aparo (Victor, NY/Victor Central) was an All Greater Rochester first team selection the past couple of seasons at the midfield and marking positions. She was a member of the Empire State Games gold medalist team and a member of the state's Olympic Development Program.

"What impresses me most is her competitive spirit of wanting to win and her ability to mark opponents top players," said UB head coach Jean-A. Tassy. "Without a doubt, I look forward to her being an intricate part of our team this fall."

Darrah Graziano (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) is a midfielder who was also part of the Empire State Games gold medalist team and has been involved with the New York ODP program. She has also been a member of the Rochester Junior Rhino club team and was an All-Greater Rochester first team selection last year.

"What I appreciate about Darrah's game is her vision and her ability to take initiative and make things happen in the attacking part of the field," said Tassy. "I look forward to her being a big part of our offense this fall."

Erin McGarry (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills) was an All-State selection and participated on the Empire State Games team that finished in second place. She brings a physical presence to the midfield and defensive side of the field for the Bulls.

"Erin's strength is in the air and her ability to pressure opponents to force mistakes will definitely be a tremendous addition on offense and defense," said Tassy. "She gives the team a good tactical understanding of the game and a physical presence at marking back as well as in the midfield."

Devon Russell (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) is part of a twin-sister combination signed by the Bulls and is another player with experience in the Olympic Development Program. She was also an All-State selection and member of the Empire State Games team. Russell also played with the Capital United club team.

Emily Russell (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) is the second half of the twin-sister combination for UB. Like her sister, Emily has been a part of the ODP program and was a member of the All-State team and the Capital United Club Team.

"Devon is creative and confident with the ball and takes pride in her game, which will raise the lever of play of others around her," said Tassy. "What impresses me the most is her leadership and flexibility to play different positions. Emily is a very flexible player who can play on top or on the flank. She has great one-on-one skills and great stamina. With these two twin sisters on the field, they could be the best young duo in the Mid-American Conference this fall."

Lauren West (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) is another All-State player who has signed with UB. West played for the Club USA club team and was part of the ODP program in the state of New York. A member of the Empire State Games team, West has speed and quickness with the ball and is expected to be an exciting offensive player for UB this fall.

"I appreciate her technical skills and tactical understanding, her enthusiasm and her competitive spirit at any position," said Tassy. "She is creative with the ball and takes tremendous pride and enjoyment in meeting the responsibilities of these positions."
