Women’s Soccer Announces Class of 2011 RecruitsBUFFALO, NY - Head coach Jean-A Tassy has announced his Class of 2011 recruiting class, adding three players for the 2007 season. With the Bulls losing just three players, including their starting central midfielder, Tassy centered his recruiting efforts on signing versatile players in 2011, adding one midfielder and two players that excel both in the middle and on defense.
Martina Pettenuzzo (Arlington Heights, Ill/Prospect), a strong defender/midfielder from the Prairie State, played her club soccer for the Chicago Sockers FC Chicago, coached by Chuck Codd. “Martina is very strong on the ball and in the air,” said Tassy. “She loves to go forward and can play many positions on the pitch. Martina is very technical on the ball and she is not afraid to hit the diagonal ball behind the defense. We are looking forward to her physical presence on the pitch.”
Kristen Bailey (Burlington, Ontario/Assumption) is a naturally left footed defender/midfielder. Bailey played her club soccer for the Burlington Flash, coached by Stephen McNab. “Kristen possesses great speed, technical / tactical awareness and the ability to get forward and finish,” Tassy said. “Kristen is very versatile and she is known to have composure while possessing the ball. We are looking forward to her adding to our team speed in the fall.”
Lindsey Bailey (Burlington, Ontario/Assumption) is a midfielder who, similarly to her twin sister Kristen, was also coached by Stephen McNab as a member of the Burlington Flash. “Lindsey is a dangerous offensive threat with great speed, manages the ball well, good vision / tactical awareness and a tremendous shot. Lindsey has excellent 1 v 1 skills and looks to go to goal,” said Tassy. “As a midfielder, Lindsey is aware of her defensive responsibility as well. We are looking forward to her adding to our team speed this fall. The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team finished its 2006 campaign with an 8-10 overall record. Sporting a 4-6 Mid-American Conference record, the Bulls narrowly missed qualifying for the league tournament.
