Women's Soccer Announces SigneesBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer program has announced four student-athletes will continue their athletic and academic endeavors at the University at Buffalo in the fall of 2002. Natalia Crofut (Aurora, NY/Iroquois), Erica Mincher (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa), Lindsey Sadonis (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Pamela Schneck (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills) will join 25 returnees from the 2001 team that posted a 9-9 overall mark and a 7-5 Mid-American Conference record. "I anticipate that their physical prowess along with their rich soccer backgrounds and passion for the game of soccer will help us to once again make a run at the MAC title," said coach Jean-A. Tassy. Crofut, a 5-9 creative attacker/ midfielder from Iroquois, earned First-Team All-Western New York honors after setting six school records. She was tops on the Chiefs' list with most goals (29), assists (21) and points in a season and holds the same career marks (75 goals, 62 assists). A team captain for the ECIC III champions, she was also a member of the Western Team for the Empire State Games. "She brings an aggressive style of play around the net, creative ball skills and versatility and speed to our program. She loves to score and will definitely be a tremendous addition," said Tassy. Mincher is a 5-8 midfielder from a Shenendehowa team that ran off 22 straight wins before falling to Section VIII's Rockville Center Southside High, 1-0, in double overtime of the Class A New York State semifinals. She scored seven goals and had three assists, which included a two goal, one assist performance against Bethlehem during the regular season. "An outstanding midfielder with great technical and tactical skills who has great vision and has a powerful shot, Erica will help us solidify the center of the field," said Tassy. Sadonis joins the Bulls after helping to lead her team to an 18-2 record at Liverpool High School. The 5-6 attack and midfielder earned Second-Team Onondaga High School League (OHSL) Class A-1 honors as a senior at Liverpool. "Lindsey is a legitimate front-runner who bring creative scoring skills, speed and tenacious disposition to the ball," said Tassy. "She loves to go at the opponents' defense and loves to score." Schneck, a 5-9 defender, earned All-Suffolk County honors as a senior after guiding Half Hollow Hills to a 13-3-1 mark and the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. "She is a smart and strong defender who will make her presence know to opponents," said
Tassy. "Her strength in the air, her one-on-one skills and her knowledge of the game and the position will
bring stronger stability and size to our maturing defense." |
