Devon Russell

NEW YORK - Devon Russell (Averill Park, NY/Academy of the Holy Names), a defender on the University at Buffalo women's soccer team, has been named to the Soccer Buzz Magazine All-Northeast Region Third Team as voted on by players and coaches from 285 Division I women's soccer programs. This is the second award for Russell, who was earlier named to the All-MAC Second Team.

A team captain, Russell was the cornerstone of a solid Bulls' defense in 2002. With two goals on the season and stellar defensive play, she helped lead UB to a 7-8-5 record and a fifth place seeding in the MAC Tournament. The Bulls suffered a heartbreaking, 2-1, double-overtime defeat to Bowling Green in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament to bring an end to their season.
