Roesch and Crofut Earn Scholar All-Region Honors from NSCAA
Defender and forward, respectively, earn team's first NSCAA Scholar team honors
 Jessica Roesch |
BUFFALO, NY - Junior Jessica Roesch (Centennial, CO/Grandview) and senior Natalia Crofut (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois) became the first University at Buffalo women's soccer players to earn Scholar All-East Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the organization announced. Both players were honored on the third team.
Roesch, who moved from midfield to central back at the beginning of the season after an injury to 2004 MAC Freshman team honoree Courtney MacVie (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East), helped the Bulls give up only 1.70 goals per game while starting every game. She helped the Bulls to wins over two regionally-ranked programs and also earned All-Tournament team honors at Army’s BAE System’s Classic and the Central Florida Invitational.
Roesch, who carries a 3.74 GPA as a nursing major, is a four-time UB Scholar Athlete and was a 2004 recipient of the MAC Commisioner’s Award. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
 Natalia Crofut |
Crofut, who also was named to the Academic All-MAC team, led Buffalo with three goals and eight points despite being injured for the final six games of the season. She is one of only 27 players to reach 50 career points in MAC history and one of 11 players in UB history to reach 20 career goals, reaching both before being injured this season. She finished her career ninth in goals (21) and ninth in points (53) in UB history. She led the team in goals three times and points once and was the first player since all-time leading scorer Paula Listrani (1997-1999) to have at least 10 points in her first three seasons.
An English major, Crofut maintains a 3.59 GPA and is also involved in Phi Eta Sigma and the Golden Key International Honor Societies.
The University at Buffalo women's soccer team also earned its first NSCAA Academic team award on Dec. 14, as the team posted a 3.39 GPA during the 2004-05 academic year.
The 2005 team finished 5-11-2 overall and 3-7-1 in MAC action under 11th-year head coach Jean-A. Tassy.
