Bulls Defeated by St. Bona, 2-1BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team dropped another close game Thursday night (9/18), losing to visiting St. Bonaventure 2-1. Freshman midfielder Cherie Rogers (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal at 29:22 of the first half, scoring on a header off a cross pass from freshman midfielder Heather Collins (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) to give UB the early 1-0 lead. However, the Bonnies drew even at 31:56 when sophomore midfielder Keri Guminey scored off a direct kick to knot the score at 1-1. St. Bona outshot the Bulls 6-3 in the first half. The only goal of the second half came at 52:45 when senior Lori Spaziani gathered a pass that tipped off one of the Bulls' defenders, dribbled in on goal and scored. St. Bonaventure dominated the second half, firing six shots on net to UB's two. The Bulls were outshot 12-5 for the game. The Bulls (0-4-1) will next face Western Michigan University on Saturday (9/20) at RAC Field at 11:00 am. Admission is free. |
