Bulls Winning Streak Comes to an End

Tiffany Bell scores 26 points in 55-54 loss to Western Michigan

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team saw its ten game home winning streak come to an end tonight with a loss to Western Michigan, 55-54 in Alumni Arena in Mid-American Conference action.

The Bulls were outscored by the Broncos in the first half, 26-27 but battled back and took the lead for the first time in the second half on a Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) layup with ten seconds remaining in the game. With Buffalo in command, 54-53 and one second remaining on the shot clock, Western Michigan's Kelly DeLong came out of a timeout to hit a jumper from the right baseline-which proved to be the winning shot.

Bell scored a team-high 26 points and pulled down 16 rebounds-her ninth double-double of the season while Samantha Cerny (Leonidas, MI/Leonidas) contributed ten points for Buffalo.

Shelsea Irving led all scorers with 28 points for WMU.

The victory put the Broncos a half a game ahead of the Bulls in the league. The Bulls are now 15-8 overall and 8-5 in the league while the Broncos are 15-7, 8-4.

The Bulls return to action Monday night against the MAC's top-ranked team - Toledo in a 7:30 pm tipoff in Alumni Arena.
