Bell Named Honorable Mention All-MAC

Sophomore center leads Bulls in inaugural season in MAC

BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore center Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) received honorable mention honors for the 1998-99 Pepsi All-MAC Women's Basketball Team as anounced on Saturday, February 27. The all-MAC team is voted on by all 13 coaches in the Mid-American Conference.

Bell finished the regular season ranked 10th in the league in scoring at 15.5 points per game and fifth in rebounding at 8.7 an outing. Bell also ranked ninth in field goal percentage at 49.1%, 16th in steals at 1.58 and fourth in blocked shots with a 1.23 average.

A starter in all 27 games during the 1998-99 season, Bell lead the Bulls to a 15-11 overall and an 8-8 league mark during the regular season - which was good for sixth place overall and a No. 7 seed in the 1998 MAC tourney. She recorded a team-high eight double-doubles on the season, including a career-best 37 points and 18 rebounds in an overtime win over Miami on Feb. 1. She was just one point shy of the all-time record for scoring against the RedHawks.

Other honors for Bell during the 1998-99 campaign included being named the MAC's Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 1 and earning most valuable player honors at the UB Invitational on Dec. 6.
