University at Buffalo Women's Basketball Suffers Loss to MAC's Top-Ranked Team

BUFFALO, NY - Toledo senior Kim Knuth - the nation's leading scorer - scored 34 points and dished out 10 assists tonight as the MAC's top team rolled over the University at Buffalo, 80-63 on senior night in Alumni Arena.

The Rockets (22-4, 14-1) came out on fire shooting 57.1% (16-of-28) from the field and 71.4% (5-of-7) from three-point range in the first half with their biggest lead coming at the 5:04 mark, 35-16 on a Kari Husbeck made three-pointer.

Shooting percentages and rebounding favored Buffalo in the second and the Bulls came within nine points at the 16:58 mark on a made layup by sophomore guard Mari McClure (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester Adams). The nine points, however, was as close as the Bulls would get as the scoring duo of Knuth and Jennifer Markwood proved unstoppable for the Bulls. Along with Knuth's double-double, Markwood pitched in 20 points and pulled down five rebounds in the Toledo victory.

This was Buffalo's second home loss of the season as they move to 15-9 overall, 8-6 in the MAC. The Bulls are currently ranked fifth in the overall standings of the league.

Mari McClure was the top scorer for the Bulls with 17 points while Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) added 12 points. Tiffany Bell also recorded a career-high five blocks in the loss.

The Bulls next contest will be at Akron this Saturday (2/20). Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
