Bulls Drop 74-63 Contest To Bucknell

Heather Turner notches a career-high 25 points in the loss

BUFFALO, NY - Bucknell relied on career scoring nights from two players as the Bison defeated Buffalo, 74-63, Wednesday Night at Alumni Arena. The Bulls have dropped two straight games after winning four in a row. The Bison used a 17-3 run in the first half and another run of 13-3 in the second half to win their sixth game of the season, their fourth in a row.

The Bulls led by as much as seven in the first half, but Jacquie Seawright and Amanda Brown took control of the game on their way to career nights with 22 and 20 points, respectively.

UB got a tremendous effort from sophomore Heather Turner (West Seneca, NY/Mount Mercy Academy) who recorded her third double-double of the season with a new career high, 25 points, and a game-high 12 rebounds. Turner kept the Bulls in the game, and UB did go on a 14-0 run at the end of the first half and into the second, but Bucknell answered with its 13-3 run.

"I was real disappointed with tonight," head coach Linda Hill-MacDonald said. "We didn't do the little things tonight that we have been doing consistently and it cost us a game tonight. Even in some of our losses we did some of those little things, but I don't think we did that tonight."

Freshman Jamie Schiebner (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) tied her career high with 12 points in the contest, while senior Brooke Meunier (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) recorded eight points and pulled down 10 boards.

After an 11-of-12 performance from the charity stripe in the Bulls' last game, UB was impressive again tonight going 18-of-22, including perfect nights from Schiebner, Meunier, Rachelle Matthys (St. Clair, MI/St. Clair) and Flynn Pyykkonen (Clarkston, MI/Birmigham Marion).

Sophomore Stephanie Bennett (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge) recorded a game-high six assists, giving her 43 so far on the season.

The Bulls won't have much time to reflect on tonight's game as they will travel to San Antonio for the UTSA Wells Fargo Classic. UB will face the host Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners on Friday, Dec. 30 at 8:00 p.m.
