CLEVELAND, OH Junior Jessica Kochendorfer (Allen, MI/Quincy) of the University at Buffalo women's basketball team was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week for the first time in her career, as announced today by the league office.

Kochendorfer led the Bulls to two wins last week while averaging 17.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. She began the week by posting her third straight double-double with 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in the Bulls' overtime win at Youngstown State on Wednesday night. Kochendorfer scored seven of the Bulls' final 11 points in the overtime period to help them come back from an 80-75 deficit and win by six, 86-80. She then scored a team-high 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a career-high seven shots in Buffalo's 77-67 win at Mount St. Mary's on Saturday. Her seven blocks were one shy of the UB single-game record. Kochendorfer is averaging 11.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game through the first seven games of the season.

Kochendorfer and the Bulls are next in action on Monday, December 30 when they host Oakland at 7 pm in Alumni Arena in a game that was added to the schedule in early December. The game is not a ticketed event and is thus free to the public. They then host Colorado on Thursday, January 2 at 7 pm.
