Bell Chosen to Preseason All-MAC Women's Basketball TeamBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo senior Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) has been chosen to the 2000 Preseason All-MAC Women's Basketball Team, as announced today by the league office. Bell joins Cheryl Bowles of Akron, Kristin Koetsier of Western Michigan, Francine Miller of Bowling Green and Stephanie Smiley of Eastern Michigan on the five-person team chosen by members of the MAC News Media Association. "I'm happy for Tiffany and for what she has accomplished thus far in her career," said head coach Cheryl Dozier. "This is a nice honor for her and for the University." During the 1999-2000 season, Bell became UB's first-ever WBCA Kodak All-America selection, earning District 4 honors, and she became only the second player in UB women's basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau as a junior. Bell earned All-MAC second-team honors last season after leading the conference and finishing 34th in the nation in scoring. Her 19.0 points per game also established a UB single-season scoring record. Bell ranked in the top 10 in the MAC in five other categories, including rebounding (10th, 7.9 rpg). Bell is currently fifth all-time in scoring at UB with 1,115 career points. She has scored in double-figures in 58 of 78 career games, and she holds a school record with 17 career double-doubles. Bell ranks among the top 10 in nine categories on UB's all-time records lists. Bell and the other members of both the men's and women's Preseason All-MAC teams will be
on hand at the MAC's 2000 Basketball Media Days in Cleveland, OH. Interviews with the
women's coaches and Preseason All-MAC players will begin at 3 pm on Wednesday, October 18 at the
Renaissance Hotel, and interviews with the men's coaches and Preseason All-MAC players will be held
on Thursday, October 19 at 9 am. |
