Five Bulls Named to MAC Academic Honor Roll

Bulls post third-highest team GPA at UB during the 2001 spring semester

BUFFALO, NY - Five members of the University at Buffalo women's basketball team were named to the Mid-American Conference's 2000-01 Women's Basketball Honor Roll, as announced by the league office. Seniors Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield), Mari McClure (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester Adams), Tara Perrier (Aurora, Ontario/Aurora) and Sonia Ortega (Chihuahua, Mexico/Cobach) and sophomore Deb Sellan (Corfu, NY/Pembroke) all received recognition from the MAC for their academic and athletic performance. Student-athletes must obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00, earn a varsity letter for the current season and have attended the institution for a full year to be eligible for the honor.

Bell, McClure, Perrier, Ortega and Sellan helped the UB women's basketball team post the third-highest grade point average of all teams at the University at Buffalo during the 2001 spring semester. The Bulls posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.333, their highest team GPA in head coach Cheryl Dozier's three years, ranking them behind only women's swimming (3.444) and men's cross country (3.413).

The Bulls finished the 2000-01 season with a 19-9 overall record and a 10-6 conference mark.
