BUFFALO, NY – Fourth-year head coach Linda Hill-MacDonald has announced that Corinne Pellegrini will join the women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach. Pellegrini comes to Buffalo after serving one season as the head coach at Genesee Community College.

“We are very excited to welcome Corinne to the University at Buffalo family,” said Hill-MacDonald. “She brings great energy and enthusiasm and will be a great teacher for our post players. She led her team to the junior college final four last season and brings some very impressive credentials to our staff.”

Last year, Pellegrini led the Cougars to a 24-6 record winning the Region III DII tournament and advancing to the NJCAA DII National Tournament where they finished in the top eight in the nation. Pellegrini received District C Coach of the Year honors at the national tournament and she placed players on the National All-Tournament Team, the All-Region III First Team and Second Team and the All-Region III Tournament Team.

From 2005-2007, Pellegrini was an assistant women’s coach at University of Rochester where she worked to develop U of R’s inside game, recruit student-athletes, scout opponents, and fundraise for the team. While at Rochester, she helped the team reach two NCAA Sweet Sixteen contests.

Prior to coaching at the collegiate level, Pellegrini coached at both the high school and club levels. In 2004, she was named the head varsity girl’s coach in Pembroke, Massachusetts. While at Pembroke, she created and directed the first summer girl’s basketball camp, “Get Fired Up”. During that time, Pellegrini was a coach for the Boston Monarchs AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) program. She also worked as a summer camp counselor for both girls and boys at several colleges and universities in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and New York.

Pellegrini played Division III collegiate basketball at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. While at Bowdoin (’99-’03), she was a member of a NCAA Sweet Sixteen team, and co-captain of two NCAA Elite Eight teams.

In 2003, she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and received secondary teacher certification from Bowdoin College. Pellegrini received a master’s degree in education from the University of Rochester in 2007.
