BUFFALO, NY – Head Coach Linda Hill-MacDonald has announced the addition of Chrissy Cooper (State College, PA/State College) who signed her scholarship letter and will begin playing for the Bulls this upcoming season.

Cooper is a 5’10” shooting guard who averaged 18.0 points during her senior season for State College High School. She was the only member of her team to finish in double figures as she led her team to an 18-7 record and a number six ranking in Pennsylvania in Class AAAA. The team made it to the state tournament before losing to eventual state champion, Mt. Lebanon.

Cooper shot 49 percent from behind the arc during her senior season, while also recording 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.0 steals per contest. She also shot 88 percent from the free throw line. She leaves State College as the school leader in career three pointers and second in assists, steals and defensive rebounds. She is a 79 percent career free throw shooter, converting on 200-of-255.

Following her senior season, Cooper was given the Thomas Whittaker Memorial Basketball Award as well as being named her team’s Most Valuable Player. She was also an All-State Third Team selection and named a conference All-Star. Cooper also played AAU ball for two different teams, starting off with the Susquehanna Valley Cagers and then moving to Capital AAU in 2008 where she recorded 15.5 points per contest.

In addition to being a four-year letterwinner in basketball, Cooper was also a four-year letterwinner in soccer where she was a conference All-Star selection during her sophomore and junior seasons. In the classroom, Cooper is in the top 10 percent of her class and has made high honor roll in every marking period.

“As a staff we are thrilled that a player of Chrissy’s caliber was still available at such a late date,” said Hill-MacDonald. “She is an outstanding shooter who comers from a great basketball program at State College High School. She provides us with additional depth at the guard position and we look forward to her arrival on campus to meet her new teammates. ”

Cooper joins a class that already includes Abby Dowd (Tipp City, OH/Tippecanoe), Amy Gardner (Medina, OH/Walsh Jesuit), Nikki Hopkins (Lima, OH/Bath) and Nytor Longar (Rochester, MN/John Marshall).
