Shannon Baugh Hired to Complete Women's Basketball Coaching Staff
Baugh comes to UB from fellow Mid-American Conference member Northern Illinois where she spent one season as an assistant coach. As an assistant for the Huskies, Baugh coordinated team travel, handled film exchange, broke down film, scouted opponents and assisted with practice and game preparation. She also aided with the skill development of post and perimeter players. Prior to being hired at Northern Illinois, Baugh spent the 2003-04 season as an assistant coach at Bradley University. During the 2002-03 season, Baugh was an assistant coach at the University of North Dakota. She helped lead the Fighting Sioux to a 26-6 record, a North Central Conference Championship and a spot in the NCAA Division II Regional Semifinals. North Dakota finished the season ranked 12th in the WBCA Division II women's basketball poll. Baugh began her coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay during the 2001-02 season. She helped guide the Phoenix to a berth in the NCAA Tournament after they were both the Horizon League regular season and tournament champions. Baugh is a 1994 graduate of Eastern Illinois University where she was a two-year letter winner. As a team captain during the 1993-94 season, Baugh led the Panthers in scoring (15.1) and rebounding (6.9). Her 129 free throws made during the 1993-94 season still stands as a school record. "Shannon is familiar with the Mid-American Conference so we are just thrilled to have her become a part of the program here at Buffalo," Hill-MacDonald said. "We are excited about her experience in the MAC and what she can bring and I will be delighted when she is on board."
Baugh will join Evelyn Thompson and Kelly Morrone to round out Hill-MacDonald's coaching staff.
