BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team award winners for the 2005-06 season were announced at UB's annual Athletic Awards Banquet, held at The Millennium Hotel on Tuesday, May 2. Sophomore Heather Turner (West Seneca, NY/Mount Mercy Academy) was named Most Outstanding Player, while freshman Jamie Schiebner (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) was named Top Newcomer. Sophomore Stephanie Bennett (Springfield, NY/Kenton Ridge) received the Coaches' Award and Sophomore Flynn Pyykkonen (Clarkston, MI/Birmingham Marion) was named Most Improved Player.

Turner is a repeat selection, taking home the Most Outstanding and Top Newcomer awards last season. Turner finished the year as the team leader in points per game (14.3), rebounds per game (8.1) and field goal percentage (61.1%), which was the sixth-best performance in the nation. For her efforts, Turner was named to the All-MAC Third Team. The sophomore forward was named MAC East Player of the Week twice last year and was named to the UTSA Wells Fargo Classic All-Tournament Team.

Schiebner finished fourth in scoring at 7.8 points per game. Schiebner will always be remember of sinking three late free throws, securing a Buffalo win in the MAC opener at Miami. Schiebner had her first breakout performance when she notched a double-double in the second game of the season against Syracuse.
