Bell Named District All-American

Senior Earns Honor for Second Year in a Row

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo women's basketball senior Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Kodak All-America District 4 Team for the second year in a row, as announced by the WBCA on Friday, March 16.

Bell is one of six players named to the District 4 team, and she now becomes one of 48 finalists for the most prestigious All-American team in NCAA women's basketball. Bell became the first-ever Kodak All-American in UB women's basketball history when she also received a spot on the District 4 squad as a junior last season.

Bell finished her career as UB's second all-time leading scorer with 1,632 career points. She is also UB's career leader in field goals made (603), free throws made (419) and free throws attempted (585), and she ranks third all-time with 792 career rebounds. Bell received All-MAC First Team honors this year after leading the Bulls in both scoring (18.5 points per game) and rebounding (7.6 rebounds per game). She finished the regular season tied for the league's scoring lead (18.6) with Ball State's Tamara Bowie, the 2001 MAC Player of the Year, and her 517 points on the year are a UB single-season record. Bell scored in double figures in 26 of Buffalo's 28 games and she had six double-doubles during the year. Bell was a Preseason All-MAC selection and was named MAC East Player of the Week five times during the season. She was an All-MAC Second Team selection last year after leading the conference and setting a UB single-season record in scoring with 19.0 points per game.

"I'm very happy for Tiffany to be receiving this honor for the second year in a row," said UB head coach Cheryl Dozier. "She did great things for our basketball program and for the entire University during her four-year career, and she's very deserving of this national recognition."

Joining Bell on the District 4 team are three other players from the Mid-American Conference - Ball State's Tamara Bowie, Toledo's Kahli Carter and Kent State's Julie Studer - as well as Janet Holt from Tennessee Tech and Katie Wolfe from Oakland University.

The Division I Kodak Women's All-America Basketball Team will be announced on March 29 prior to the NCAA Women's Final Four in St. Louis, MO.
