Bulls Drop Regular Season Finale To Miami, 67-57 Jessica Fortman finishes with a game-high 17 points
The two teams traded the lead back and forth for most of the first half as neither team was able to pull away. UB held its largest lead of the game at two with 6:22 left in the opening half when the RedHawks went on a 7-0 run. The Bulls fought back to tie it up at 24 on a three from Rachelle Matthys with 48 seconds left in the half, but the RedHawks went into the half with a five-point lead after a pair of Miami free throws and a long three pointer from Courtney Reed at the buzzer.
The RedHawks got their lead up to nine early on in the second half, but the Bulls brought it to within four on a pair of free throws from Beth Christensen with 12:45 left in the game. However a quick 8-2 run by Miami put them ahead by 10. The RedHawks would lead by as many as 16 in the second half, but back-to-back threes pulled the Bulls to within 10. After two Miami free throws, Jamie Schiebner converted on a three of her own to pull UB within nine. The RedHawks would then go one for two from the line on their final trip for the final margin. The Bulls were led by a game-high 17 points from Jessica Fortman, who went 6-of-10 from the floor. She added seven rebounds, three assists and four steals. Kourtney Brown finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and a career-high five blocked shots. Schiebner added seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in her final regular season game.
The RedHawks had three players in double figures led by 13 points from Stephanie Ford who also added seven rebounds. Jenna Schone finished with 11 points and Rachael Hencke had 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Bulls will now head to Cleveland, OH for their MAC Tournament game against the Huskies on Wednesday. Tip time is set for 2:00 pm.
