Kochendorfer Receives Honorable Mention All-MAC Accolades
Kochendorfer led the Bulls with 14.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.36 blocks per game. She was one of only two players to start every game for the Bulls during the 2001-02 season, and she posted a team-high seven double-doubles on the year while leading the Bulls in scoring on 10 occasions and in rebounding on 17 occasions. Her 401 points on the year are the 10th highest in UB history, and her 38 blocks are sixth on UB's single-season record list. Kochendorfer ended the regular season ranked ninth in the Mid-American Conference in scoring, seventh in rebounding, seventh in field goal percentage, third in blocked shots per game and third in defensive rebounds per game. In MAC games only, she ranked fourth in scoring and rebounding and third in blocks per game. Kochendorfer was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Tulane/Doubletree Classic in late December, and she was named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on February 12. She scored a career-high 27 points against Ball State on February 9 and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against Kent State on January 30. She also surpassed the 600 career point plateau (607) and the 350 career rebound plateau (361), putting her on pace to become just the second player in UB history to score over 1,200 points and grab over 700 rebounds in her career. Kochendorfer is the Bulls' third honorable mention honoree in four years, following former UB standouts Tiffany Bell and Sonia Ortega, who earned the honor in 1998-99 and 1999-2000, respectively. The Bulls ended their 2001-02 season with a 9-19 record following a 56-41 loss at
Northern Illinois on Saturday in first-round MAC Tournament action. |
