UB Women’s Basketball To Enter The Pink Zone On Feb. 14 Bulls to raise Breast Cancer Awareness vs. Northern Illinois
This year’s event will be extra special following the passing of longtime North Carolina State head coach Kay Yow, who lost her decades long battle with breast cancer. “It is extra special this year because of the recent loss of Kay Yow to our profession,” UB coach Linda Hill-MacDonald said. “The attention she has been able to bring to the cause of research for breast cancer was phenomenal. Over the past four years since she was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer to have fought the fight as long as she did was amazing and it galvanized the profession in an effort to raise funds to help in the research.” The Bulls will be doing their part as they have come up with a few different ways to donate to the fund. Fundraising efforts include a raffle for one of two special pink jerseys autographed by the UB women’s team. There also will be a “Pink Zone Toss” where for a $5 donation, fans get a pink tennis ball and can try to toss the ball into a box at halftime to win $5,000. The donation also enters fans into a raffle to win a football jersey autographed by football coach Turner Gill. Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear pink and in-game entertainment will feature In-Jest, a bounce house, airbrush tattoos, a Clown for the kids, and much more. Tickets for the event are $5 and for groups of 10 of more it is just $3 per person. You can buy tickets by visiting the Alumni Arena Tickets Office, calling 1-877-UB-THERE or visiting Buffalobulls.com.
