Turner Named MAC East Player of the Week
Turner helped UB break a 19-game losing streak against members of the MAC West with a 15-point, 15-rebound performance in a home victory over Western Michigan. Turner followed that up with 15 points and 11 rebounds as UB put up 90 points in a victory over Central Michigan. It was the most points UB had scored since putting up 95 against North Carolina on Nov. 17, 2000. Turner is currently seventh in nation in field goal percentage as she has hit 61.5 percent of her shots this season. In conference play, Turner has converted on 73 percent of her shots. Having already surpassed 600 career rebounds earlier this season, Turner is just one point shy of becoming the 16th player in school history to record 1,000 career points. Turner would be the first player in school history to record 1,000 points and 600 rebounds during her junior season. Turner joins senior Belinda Gibb (Denmark, Western Australia/Willetton) who won the award earlier this season following an MVP performance at the St. Bonaventure Shootout. Turner and the rest of the Bulls return to action on Wednesday night as they travel to face Miami (OH). The Bulls and RedHawks tip off at 7:00 pm. |
