Bell Named MAC East Player of the Week

Women's Basketball Senior Earns Honor For Fifth Time This Season

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo women's basketball senior Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) was named Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, as announced by the conference office earlier today. Bell has now earned Player of the Week honors more times this year than any other player in the MAC.

Bell led Buffalo to two conference wins last week, averaging 26.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. Bell had 25 points, six rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal in the Bulls' 85-56 win over Western Michigan on Wednesday, February 7. She followed that performance with 28 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks against Ball State, leading the Bulls to a 79-69 win. Buffalo is only the second MAC team to defeat the Cardinals this season, and Bell also held the conference's leading scorer, Tamara Bowie, to just six shots, 12 points and two rebounds in the win. For the week, Bell shot 51 percent from the floor (21-of-41). The double-double against Ball State was her fourth of the season and the 21st of her career, and she has now scored 20 or more points nine times this season.

Bell will now lead the Bulls (16-6, 7-4 MAC) to their next test at Kent State on Wednesday, February 14 at 7 pm. The Golden Flashes (15-7, 10-2 MAC) are the only team ahead of Buffalo in the MAC's East Division standings. They defeated the Bulls earlier in the year, 68-60 on January 10.
