YPSILANTI, MI – The host Eastern Michigan Eagles used a 25-8 run over the final eight minutes of the game as they defeated the University at Buffalo women’s basketball team, 69-58, Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.

The Eagles got off to a quick start to the game by taking 26-9 lead with 8:25 left in the first half. The Bulls fought back though ending the half on an 11-4 run, which was capped by a long three at the buzzer by freshman Brittany Hedderson.

The Bulls continued their run in the second half beginning the final 20 minutes on an 18-6 run, taking their largest lead of the game at five. The Bulls remained ahead by one when the Eagles had a game-changing six-point possession. De’Ja Wills hit a three to put EMU up and during the shot a UB foul gave the Eagles the ball back. Wills hit another three giving Eastern Michigan a five point lead and then a third straight three put EMU ahead by eight. The Bulls tried to fight back but the Eagles hit 10 straight free throws to end the game.

The Bulls were led by a career high 21 points from senior Jamie Schiebner, who converted on a career-best four three pointers. Schiebner also added eight rebounds. Redshirt junior Rachelle Matthys also converted on four three pointers for 14 points on the evening. Hedderson finished with six points and a career best 10 assists. The 10 assists are the most by a UB player since December 2, 2006 and tied for ninth in school history for assists in a game.
