BUFFALO, NY – Redshirt sophomore Kourtney Brown did something today that no UB player has done in nearly six years as she scored a career high 31 points in a 83-62 loss to Ball State, Sunday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The last person the score 30 was Kate McMeeken-Ruscoe against Ohio on February 19, 2003.

The visiting Cardinals led the game wire-to-wire leading by as many as 10 points in the first half. The Bulls would get to within four with 2:04 left in the half before Ball State scored four straight points. Three UB points in the final 20 seconds put the Bulls into the half down just five.

Ball State went on to score the first six points of the second half to take an 11-point lead, but the Bulls kept on battling getting the game to within six with 4:47 left in the second half. However, timely shooting by the Cardinals fueled a 20-5 run to end the game.

The Bulls were led by Brown’s career high 31-point game. She completed the double-double with a game-high 11 rebounds and a game-high four blocks. Brown now has nine 20-point games on the season. Scoring eight points a piece for the Bulls were Jamie Schiebner and Brittany Hedderson. Hedderson and Jessica Fortman each had four assists.

Ball State was led by four players in double figures including 15 points from Porchia Green, who also had six rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Danielle Gratton added 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Bulls hit the road on Wednesday night when they travel to Eastern Michigan. Tip off with the Eagles is set for 7:00 pm.
