Bulls Host MAC West Leaders

Eastern Michigan is undefeated in conference play

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team will battle the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday evening at Alumni Arena. Overall the Bulls will be playing for their eighth victory of the season while the Eagles will be looking to win their 13th. This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the schools. Eastern Michigan leads the series with six victories; however the Bulls have won three out of the four contests held at Alumni Arena.

UB (7-10, 2-4 MAC) is coming off a hard fought defeat at the hands of MAC opponent Toledo on Wednesday, by a score of 57-47. Senior guard Brooke Meunier (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) led the Bulls with 14 points and sophomore forward Heather Turner (West Seneca, NY/Mount Mercy Academy) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Jamie Schiebner (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) also added 12 points.

The Bulls will look to keep their offense rolling against Eastern Michigan. The Bulls have players leading the conference in two different categories. In conference games only, Turner is leading the MAC in field-goal percentage with 68.1 percent and sophomore guard Stephanie Bennett (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge) is tops in the MAC with an average of 3 three-point field goals per contest. UB is coached by Linda Hill-MacDonald. She has taken two Division I programs to the NCAA Tournament and has been a head coach in the WNBA. Hill-MacDonald will look to continue UB's success this season versus Toledo.

Eastern Michigan (12-5, 6-0 MAC) is coming off a 65-55 victory versus MAC opponent Kent State on Wednesday. Leading the attack for the Eagles is senior guard Ryan Coleman and senior forward Nikki Knapp who are averaging 17.6 and 14.2 points per game, respectively. Eastern Michigan is coached Suzy Merchant who is in her 8th seaŽson as head coach and has a 122-82 record.
