Bulls Fall To Toledo, 57-47

BUFFALO, NY - The visiting Toledo Rockets used a 13-2 run in the first half and built a 12-point halftime lead en route to a 57-47 victory over Buffalo, Wednesday night at Alumni Arena. The loss drops the Bulls to 7-10 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.

The Bulls got off to an early lead as they held a 7-1 advantage four minutes into the game, but UB would go scoreless for the next seven minutes and lost its lead for good. The Rockets used a 10-2 run in the final five minutes of the first half to take a 12-point lead into the lockerrooms. Toledo came out with the first points of the second half and the 14-point lead would be the largest of the game. The Bulls cut the lead to as little as five on a Barbora Homolová (Ceska Lipa, Czech Republic/Strakonice) layup with 7:45 remaining in the game, but that is as close as they came.

"We just didn't hit our shots tonight," said head coach Linda Hill-MacDonald. "I thought we had some open looks and didn't take shots and there were too many times where we played around with the ball tonight."

UB was led by three players in double figures, including a game-high 14 points from Brooke Meunier (Saginaw, MI/Heritage). Sophomore Heather Turner (West Seneca, NY/Mount Mercy Academy) recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she notched 13 points and pulled in a game-high 12 rebounds. Freshman Jamie Schiebner (Saginaw, MI/Heritage) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12.

The Bulls relied on their starters again for the bulk of the minutes as Stephanie Bennett (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge), Meunier and Turner all played over 38 minutes.

Toledo (7-9, 2-4 MAC) was led by three players in double figures. Diana Reindl led the Rockets with 14 points and Danielle Bishop and Savannah Werner contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively. Werner also pulled in a team-high eight rebounds.

The Bulls will stay in the MAC West as they welcome in Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Eagles are currently undefeated in conference play. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
