Kochendorfer Named MAC East Co-Player of the Week
Kochendorfer posted double-doubles in each of the Bulls' win last week, with game highs of 24 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Marshall on Saturday, January 17, the Bulls' first MAC win of the year, and 11 points and 10 rebounds in a non-conference win at Cornell on Monday, January 12. She fell just shy of a triple-double against the Big Red by also grabbing a school-record nine blocked shots. The nine blocks also tied the Mid-American Conference record for blocks in a game. Kochendorfer now has 29 blocks on the year (2.42 per game, second in the MAC), and she needs just 23 more to tie school record-holder Nicole Blakeslee (1994-98) with 159 career blocks. She leads the Bulls with 13.4 points per game (eighth in the MAC) and 8.3 rebounds per game (fifth in the MAC) this season. Kochendorfer shared this week's honor with Kent State sophomore Lindsay Shearer, who averaged 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two conference wins last week. The Bulls (3-9 overall, 1-2 MAC) will put their two-game winning streak on the line when
they close out the non-conference portion of the 2003-04 season by hosting Holy Cross tonight at 7 pm
in Alumni Arena. They then host Central Michigan on Wednesday, January 21, also at 7 pm. |
