UB Women's Basketball Heads To Cornell

Bulls face Big Red at 7 pm on Monday

BUFFALO, NY - When UB and Cornell's women's basketball teams get together in Ithaca, NY on Monday night, it is not likely that there will be a whole lot of offensive fireworks. UB has been averaging just 56.3 points per game and is shooting 38.3 percent from the field this season, while Cornell averages 61.3 points per contest and is hitting on 39.5 percent of its shots from the floor.

At 1-9, Buffalo is off to its worst start in school history. Most recently, the Bulls fell on the road at Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan by a 78-53 score. One of the bright spots in the loss was senior forward Kim Kilpela (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield), who posted her third double-double of the season with team-highs of 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Fellow senior forward Jessica Kochendorfer (Allen, MI/Quincy) leads Buffalo on the season, averaging 12.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. She ranks in the top 10 in the MAC in both of those categories.

Cornell enters the contest with a 5-6 mark, but is a perfect 4-0 at home. The Big Red are led by senior forward Tanya Karcic's 15.5-point scoring average.

The Bulls hold an 8-2 all-time series lead, having won their last five match-ups with Cornell. Last season, UB posted an impressive 61-35 home win over the Big Red.
