Bulls Winning Streak Comes to EndBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo's school record winning streak of twelve games, which started back on Nov. 24, the Bull's second game of the season, with a win at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 78-58 was ended Monday night (1/10) with a 56-45 loss at Northern Illinois. The Bulls, who were playing without leading scorer Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield), who suffered an ankle injury early in the second half of the Bowling Green game on Jan. 8., were led by freshmen Katie Blazewski (Plymouth, MI/Detroit Country Day) and senior guard Sonia Ortega (Chihuhua, Mexico/Cobach), who recorded 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Bulls were outscored, 36-24 in the paint by the Huskies, who were led by Kristin Knake with 21 points. Buffalo shot 33.3% (20-of-60) from the field compared to Northern Illinois who connected on 40% (20-of-50) of their attempts for the game. Buffalo returns to action on Saturday (1/15) as they face the Mid-American Conference's
top team Kent in Alumni Arena at 7:30pm. |
