Bulls Set School Record With Tenth Straight WinBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team set a school record for consecutive victories with a 77-68 road victory at Canisius College on Sunday. The victory moved UB's current win streak to ten games breaking the all-time school record set back in the 1991-92 season. In addition, the 10-1 start is the best in school history. The Bulls got another strong performance from junior Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) in the win. Bell scored Buffalo's first ten points to help stake the Bulls to a 36-26 halftime lead. Bell finished with 19 points and nine rebounds. In the second half, the Bulls pushed the lead to as many as 16 points (52-36) with 13:57 remaining on a free throw by Nisha Wilson (Toronto, Ontario/St. Joseph's). Wilson finished with nine points, three steals and three assists. The Golden Griffins (4-6) would cut the lead to as little as 74-68 with 2:55 remaining before junior Mari McClure (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester Hills) hit a 25-foot three-pointer with the shot clock winding down for the game-clincher. The Bulls got a huge game from freshman Kim Kilpela (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield) as well. Kilpela, who started for Katie Blazewski (Plymouth, MI/Detroit Country Day) who was out with the flu, had her first career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Bulls owned a 48-40 rebounding edge, including 18 offensive rebounds. Senior Sonia Ortega (Chihuahua, Mexico/Cobach) was also in double figures for the Bulls with 10 points and also added six assists.
