Buscaglia Wins 400th as UB Defeats Southern Utah
Sal Buscaglia recorded his 400th
career victory as the University at Buffalo women's basketball team defeated
Southern Utah 79-55 in a Mid-Con Conference game at Alumni Arena. Buscaglia's
overall record stands at 400-123. He is 146-65 at UB. The Bulls improved
their conference record to 4-0 and stand at 10-4 overall. Sothern Utah fell
to 1-1 in conference play and 8-4 overall.
UB was led by Catherine Jacob who scored 15 points, including 4-4 from three point land. Tiffeny Bell added 15 points and Megan McCray 10 points. Southern Utah was led by Jessica Littlefield with 17 points.
Jacob opened the game by connecting on two 3-pointers and Bell added two layups as UB stormed to a 12-4 lead. The Thunderbirds fought back to close the lead to 28-27 at halftime.
UB took control of the game in the second half with exceptional shooting. The Bulls were 20-29 from the field while holding Southern Utah to 9-29. Making a big contribution off the bench in the second half for Buffalo were Samantha Cerny with 7 points and Courtney Joseph with six points.
UB now has a week to prepare for the first game against arch rival Youngstown State on January 14 in Youngstown.
