Sophomore guard Mari McClure (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester Adams) was named to the 1998 Rutgers Coca Cola Classic for averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in the tournament this past weekend (11/28-29). McClure had 11 points and six rebounds in a 70-47 loss at No. 11 Rutgers on Saturday (11/28) and she turned in 16 points and four assists on Sunday (11/29) as the Bulls defeated Sun-Belt Conference member Southwest Louisiana, 75-54 in the consolation game of the tournament.

Senior point guard Catherine Jacob (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills) was also honored at the tournament but for her efforts in the classroom. Jacob, who holds a 3.7 in mechanical engineering at UB, was given the 1998 Coca Cola Classic Scholar Athlete Award given for having a balance of academic achievement, athletic experience and leadership qualities on and off the court.
