Buffalo Gains MAC-Divisional WinBUFFALO, NY - Sophomore center Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds and scored 13 points as the University at Buffalo women's basketball team rolled past Bowling Green, 84-51 in Mid-American Conference action tonight in Alumni Arena. The Falcons got off to a strong start in the first half scoring the first four points of the game and controlling the lead up until the 11:37 mark, 12-10. The Bulls then went on an 11-0 run, including nine straight points by senior forward Kim Coon (Belding, MI/Belding) to make it 23-12 with 7:36 remaining in the first half. The Bulls controlled the game from that point on outscoring the Falcons 42-21 in the first half and 42-30 in the second half for a MAC East Division victory. The Bulls shot 54.5% from the field hitting 36-of-66 of their shots for the game, including 11-of-14 from the field and 1-of-1 from the charity stripe from senior Kim Coon who had a team-high 23 points. Senior Catherine Jacob (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills) contributed 12 points and a team-high eight assists while sophomore forward Elinor Andersson (Sodertalje, Sweden/Taljegymnasiet) recorded a career-high 10 points. Sonia Ortega had a solid performance with seven points, nine rebounds, six steals and four assists. Bowling Green who shot 37.5% from the field was led by Jacki Raterman with 10 points. The Bulls return to action on Wednesday against Central Michigan. Game time is set for 7:30 pm in Alumni Arena. |
