UB Tourney, MAC Games Highlight ScheduleThe UB Tournament and a highly-competitive Mid-American Conference schedule highlights the 1998-99 University at Buffalo women's basketball schedule. The Bulls will open the 1998-99 season on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 8:00 pm against cross-town rival Canisius at Alumni Arena while Niagara and St. Bonaventure square off in the first game. Other early season home games for the Bulls include Niagara (Nov. 21) and the UB Tourney (Dec. 5-6). The UB Tourney (Dec. 5-6) will include Boston University, Fresno State, and Florida Atlantic. The Bulls are scheduled to face Fresno State in the first round of the tournament. It is the first home tournament since the 1994-95 season. Other non-conference road games for the Bulls include the Rutgers Tournament (Nov. 28-29) with Arizona State and Southwest Louisiana, Rhode Island (Nov. 18), long-time Mid-Continent Conference foe Youngstown State (Dec. 15), who made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season, Robert Morris (Dec. 19) and Iowa State (Dec. 30) of the Big 12. The Bulls will begin play in their first season as a member of the Mid-American Conference on Dec. 10 at Toledo. After the holidays the Bulls will resume MAC conference play with home games against Eastern Michigan (Jan. 2), Akron (Jan. 9), Bowling Green (Jan. 16), Central Michigan (Jan. 20), Ball State (Jan. 30), Miami (Feb. 1), Western Michigan (Feb. 10) and Toledo (Feb. 15). The Bulls other conference road dates include matchups with Western Michigan (Jan. 6), Kent (Jan. 13), Northern Illinois (Jan. 23), Marshall (Jan. 27), Ohio (Feb. 6), Akron (Feb. 20) and Eastern Michigan (Feb. 24). The Mid-American Conference Tournament will take place Feb. 26-28. First round games will be hosted by the top-four seeds. Quarterfinal and semifinal games will take place at the Seagate Centre in Toledo, Ohio. |
