2008-09: Mid-American Conference champion and All-MAC First Team honoree winning the shot put with a school record throw of 56-10.75 at the MAC Indoor Championships. Also placed fourth in the weight throw (59-1.25) at the MAC meet. Did not compete during the outdoor season. Finished second in the National Greek 23 and Under Championships in the shot put at 56-3. Named indoor team MVP.

2007-08: Finished third in the shot put (54-8) and fourth in the weight throw (59-1.50) at the MAC Indoor Championships. Earned an NCAA East Regional qualifying distance with his 55-2 shot put toss at the MAC Outdoor Championships to place fifth. Took 16th (55-0) at the East Regionals. Broke his own discus record with a throw of 168-4 at the Campbell/Wright Open.

2006-07: Placed ninth in the shot put (52-1.75) and weight throw (55-9.25) at the MAC Indoor Championships with personal bests in both events. Also competed in the shot put and weight throw at the IC4A Championships. Finished 11th in the discus (149-3) and 12th in the hammer (166-11) at the MAC Outdoor Championships. Set UB’s discus record (167-7) at the Wake Forest Open.

2005-06: Finished seventh in the discus (152-2) at the MAC Outdoor Championships. Placed 10th in the weight throw (52-1.75) and 13th in the shot put (47-6.50) at the MAC Indoor Championships. Set UB’s top hammer mark of 156-6 at the Gina Relays.

High School: Coached by Niko Papadoulakis. Finished second in the discus at the 2005 Greek Junior Nationals and third at the 2004 Youth National Championships.

Personal: Born January 5, 1987. Son of Ioannis and Karen Stamatakis. Has one brother (Spiro). Favorite movie is A Hard Day’s Night. Lists Alexander the Great as his non-sports hero. Majoring in media studies.
