2008-09: Named Most Improved for the cross country season. Had three top-10 cross country finishes with a season-best 25:21.87 at the Bowling Green Falcon Invitational. Turned in a 26:13.3 at the MAC Cross Country Championships. Had 10th-place finishes in the 3,000m (8:44.95) and 5,000m (15:23.09) at the MAC Indoor Championships. Placed 12th in the 10,000m (33:06.36) and 14th in the 5,000m (15:29.69) at the MAC Outdoor Championships. Named to the Academic All-MAC indoor and outdoor track squads.

2007-08: Earned the Coaches Award for cross country. Raced in all seven events setting a top 8K time of 26:47 at the Paul Short Invitational. Finished 54th at the MAC Cross Country Championships in 27:03.0. Did not compete in indoor or outdoor track.

High School: Earned four letters and captained one season at Sweet Home High School for coach Mike Lauria. Finished 29th (16:42.8) among 108 runners at the 2006 state cross country championships. Earned All-ECIC honors. Competed in the intersectional distance medley relay at the 2007 state indoor championships.

Personal: Born May 13, 1989. Son of Paul and Jill Hagen. Has two brothers (Danny, Isaac) and one sister (Hannah). Brother Isaac is also member of the UB cross country team. Favorite food is ham. Favorite movie is Forrest Gump. Major is exercise science.
