Bulls Finish Strong in Weekend CompetitionKENT, OH - The Bulls continued competition in the 2001-2002 season at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala over the weekend.
Junior Joe Clark (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) took first in the 400 with a 47.04 finish. Junior Doug Johnston (East Amherst/ Clarence) placed first in the 1000 with a 2:30.46 finish. Junior Jerimie Slick (Greece, NY/ Greece-Olympia) finished first in the 5000 at 14:37.83. Freshman Erich Smithson (East Aurora, NY/ Iroquois) took second in the 300 hurdles, finishing in 39.80. Freshman Sheldon Battle (Jamestown, NY/ Jamestown) placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 52-0 (15.85m). Sophomore Rob Namulala (Kenmore, NY/ Kenmore West) took fourth in the triple jump at 44-04.25 (13.52m). Junior Steve Esler (Rochester, NY/ Aquinas) took third in the pentathlon with 3395 points.
In the women's competition, junior Jenelle Callender (Brooklyn, NY/ Brooklyn Tech) took first place in the 400 with a 58.64 finish. Freshman Tarynn Knarr (East Aurora, NY/ Iroquois) placed second in the 1000 with a 3:09.99 finish. In the 3000, freshman Jenny Koeppel (Snyder, NY/ Amherst) placed third with a 10:56.32 finish and sophomore Jessica Moldovan (Warren, PA/ Warren Area) took fourth place with a 11:06.95 finish. Junior Melissa Burrows (Norwood, NY/ Norwood-Norfolk) placed fourth in the 5000 with an 18:06.81 finish. In the one-mile run, junior Christina Keck (Erie, PA/ McDowell) placed second with a 5:10.19 finish and sophomore Hollie Rhodes (Elmira, NY/ Elmira Southside) finished fourth at 5:21.33. Junior Meagan Rogers (Courtenay, BC/ George P. Vanier) placed first in the 300 hurdles at 45:46 and third in the 60 hurdles at 9:12. Senior Chrissie Matthews (Waterford, NJ/
Edgewood) placed second in the high jump at
5-3.75 (1.62m). Freshman April Pabilonia (Clarence, NY/
Clarence) placed second in the long jump at
17-09.75 (5.43m). Sophomore Faith Thompson (Niagara Falls, NY/ Niagara
Falls) took third in the 20-lb. weight throw with a 52-01.75 finish. Junior
Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/
Binghamton) finished second in the triple jump at 39-05.25 (12.02m). |
