Senior Steve Esler (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) posted a school-record victory in the pentathlon. Esler scored a total of 3,584 points in the five-event competition breaking his old mark of 3,528 points. He won three of the five events, including both races on the track, the 60-meter hurdles (8.71) and the 1000-meter run (2:45.47). He also won the long jump with a distance of 21-1.5 (6.44m). Teammates Mark Hajnos (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and Carlos Williams (Jamestown, NY/Westfield Academy) placed third and fifth in the pentathlon.

Other winners for the Bulls included senior sprinter Joe Clark (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) with victories in the 200- (22.00) and 400-meters (47.64), Doug Johnston (Clarence, NY/Clarence) in the mile (4:22.51) and freshman Mario Hicks (Painted Post, NY/Corning West), who set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.17, breaking the old mark by three-tenths of a second.

In the women's competition, UB picked up victories from seniors Christina Keck (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton). Keck won the mile run in 5:02.97 while McFarland took the triple jump at 40-3.5 (12.28m).

The squads return to Kent State for their next competition, the Black Squirrel Invitational, on January 11.
