UB Opens Indoor Track Season On

Many Buffalo Firsts in First Meet

The Bulls opened their indoor track season as they traveled to take part in the Colgate Invitational with Albany, Colgate and Canisius. The women won the meet with 227 points while the men placed second after being narrowly edged out by Albany, 177-173.

The men's squad placed first in eight events while the women tallied 10 firsts. Multiple first place finishers include Sarah Kranzler (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) (long jump - 5.03 meters, 55 meter high hurdles - 8.52) and Jeneller Callender (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Tech) (55 meters - 7.42, 500 meters - 1:17.32). Other noteworthy firsts came from Adam Smith (Varysburg, NY/Attica) (shot put - 49' 9 3/4"), Rashidi Greene (Webster, NY/Aquinas Institute) (35 lb. weight throw - 53' 11 3/4"), Udo Okeke (Seattle, WA/Lagos) (800 meters - 2:12.12), Christina Matthews (Waterford, NJ/Edgewood) (high jump - 5' 4"), and the 4x400 meter relay team (3:55.80).
