Bulls Represented At Canadian Olympic Trials
Roelofsen, who competed in June at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finished second in the meet with a throw of 156-0 (47.56m). She finished behind Elizabeth S. Gleadle, who won the javelin competition with a throw of 161-1 (49.09m). In order to qualify for the Olympics the competitors had to throw at least 178-8 (54.50m) for an Olympic “A” automatic qualification or 165-7 (50.50m) for an Olympic “B” qualification, which qualifies you if not enough athletes meet the “A” qualification. The 2008 Beijing Olympics will have a minimum of 24 javelin throwers in the field.
Weston finished in eighth place with her a throw of 134-6 (41.02m). Weston just finished an outstanding first year at UB and was an NCAA East Regional Qualifier after posting a season-best throw of 154-1 (46.97m) earlier this year at the UB Invitational. |
