BUFFALO, NY – Three members of the University at Buffalo women's track and field team were named to the 2007 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Sarah Vance (Lockport, NY/Lockport), Tina Villa (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) and Caitlin Godin (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) were all honored for their achievement in their respective field events and in the classroom. In all, 415 student-athletes from 117 different Division I colleges were represented for their achievements during both the indoor and outdoor season.

Vance wrapped up a stellar career at Buffalo by qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in the shot put and hammer throw, becoming the first UB student-athlete to qualify for more than one event at a national championship. Earlier this year, Vance represented the Bulls at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in the shot put. Vance is UB's all-time leader in the indoor shot put, the outdoor shot put and the discus throw. Vance was named to the Academic All-MAC Team during the indoor and outdoor season.

Villa, who was named the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award winner for track and field in 2007, finished second to Vance for top results in each of the three weight throwing events. Villa became an NCAA East Regional qualifier in the shot put with her performance at the MAC Championships where she finished third. Villa also became a regional qualifier during the indoor season in the shot put with her performance at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge. Villa was also named to the Academic All-MAC Team during the indoor and outdoor season.

Godin, who competes in the high jump for the Bulls, was a regional qualifier during both the indoor and outdoor season. Godin finished tied for fourth at the outdoor MAC Championships this past season and finished 17th at the NCAA East Regionals. She had a ninth-place finish at the MAC Championships during the indoor season and finished 13th at the ECAC Championships to close out the indoor track and field season. Godin was named to the Academic All-MAC Team following the outdoor season.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the most recent indoor championships or an outdoor regional qualifying mark in their respective event.
