Casey Garbaty Competes At Canadian National Championships

Garbaty finishes fourth in the javelin

TORONTO, ON – University at Buffalo freshman Casey Garbaty competed in the javelin throw at the Canadian National Track and Field Championships this past weekend and finished in fourth place with a personal best throw.

After getting past the preliminary round with a throw of 57.71m (189-4.04), Garbaty established a new personal best on his last throw in the finals to finish in fourth place. Garbaty launched a throw of 63.11m (207-0.64), missing third place by a mere .67m.

Garbaty continues a long list of Canadian javelin throwers coached by Steve Esler. Last season, two UB javelin throwers competed at the Canadian Olympic Trials.

The Canadian National Track and Field Championships served as the trials for the World Track and Field Championships later this summer.
