Bulls Compete At USA Track & Field Junior National Championships Bulls have three compete in the junior national shot put competition
Three UB women competed in the shot put at the Junior National Championships led by incoming transfer, Becky O’Brien. O’Brien, who was competing unattached, finished in fifth place with a throw of 14.61m (47-11.25). Finishing in 11th place was Kristy Woods who threw 13.97m (45-10.00). Woods capped off a stellar freshman season where she also competed in the NCAA East Regionals, picking up All-East honors. Finishing in 15th place in the shot put was Shant’e White who threw 13.52m (44-04.25).
White had a busy day as just two hours later she competed in the hammer throw competition and finished in 17th place by throwing 46.43m (152-04). O’Brien also competed in double duty as she competed in the discus throw where she finished in 13th place with a throw of 42.11m (138-02). Battle, who competed for the Bulls back in 2001-02, competed in the National Championships against some of the best shot putters in the country. Battle finished fifth in the competition with a throw of 20.56m (67-5.50). The competition served as the USA Team Trials for the Track and Field World Championships later this summer.
