DES MOINES, IA - University at Buffalo javelin thrower Vanessa Roelofsen (Alma, Ontario/Norwell District SS) competed at the NCAA Track and Field Championships at the University of Iowa on Thursday afternoon. However, the senior thrower, who was making her second appearance in three years at the NCAA Championships, failed to advance past the preliminary round.

Roelofsen’s best throw of 38.57 meters was not good enough to place her in the top 12 and advance to the finals.

Katie Coronado of New Mexico placed first in the preliminary round with a throw of 54.53 meters.

Roelofsen was one of only two javelins throwers from the Mid-American Conference to make it to the NCAA Championships.

The Alma, Ontario native wrapped up a great career with the Bulls. She was a three-time All-East selection and a two-time MAC champion in the javelin throw.
