Sarah Vance’s Journey Ends at the NCAA Championships
Vance’s top throw of 47-6.25 (14.48m) did not place her in the top 12 needed to advance to the finals. After fouling on her first attempt, Vance also had a throw of 14.25 meters on the evening. Vance finished ahead of Ashley Morrow of Northern Illinois, Sarah Reed of Florida State and Stacey Wannemacher of Purdue. Michelle Carter of Texas placed first in the preliminaries with a toss of 56-3.25. A senior, Vance's appearance at the NCAA Championships capped a stellar career at Buffalo. She will leave UB as the school record holder in the shot put – both indoor and outdoor.
In addition, she became the first UB student-athlete to qualify for two championship events when she qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the hammer and shot put.
