Sarah Vance Comes up Short in Bid to Make Hammer Throw Finals at NCAA Championships
Vance’s top throw of 53.32 meters did not place her in the top 12 of the 28 competitors in the event needed to advance to the finals. After fouling on her first attempt, Vance also had a throw of 53.02 meters on the afternoon. Vance will be back in action on Thursday evening when she will compete in the shot put event. She is looking to become the first UB female track & field athlete to advance past the qualifying round since Shelly Hamilton earned All-America status in the high jump in 1998.
Vance became the first UB athlete to qualify for two championship events when she qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the hammer and shot put.
