BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo track and field athlete Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) fell just short of the NCAA's cutoff to attend the Division I Championships in Baton Rouge, LA beginning on Wednesday, May 29. McFarland, a junior, had the 23rd longest jump at 42-0.5 (12.81m), a school-record mark that she set last weekend while winning the triple jump title at the Mid-American Conference Championships in Ypsilanti, MI. The top 21 jumpers were selected to participate in the NCAA Championships, with the 21st mark being 42-4.25 (12.91m) by Antoinette Wilks of South Carolina.

Teammate Sarah Fletcher (Ridgeway, Ontario/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach) also fell short in the hammer throw after provisionally qualifying for the NCAAs with a second-place toss of 187-10 (57.27m) at the Penn Relays in April. Colorado State's Loree Smith's toss of 192-6 (58.67m) was the 21st and final hammer throw mark to make the NCAA cut.
