Bulls Split Squads for Pair of Relay Meets
The University at Buffalo sent squads to a pair of meets over the weekend. UB’s men’s sprinters and women’s jumpers traveled to Philaelphia for the annual Penn Relays while the rest of the men’s and women’s teams traveled to Hillsdale College for the Gina Relays. There was no team scoring in either meet.

The Bulls sent five men’s sprinters to compete in the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay events. UB’s
Dan Schichtel (Eden, NY/Eden), Ezekiel Porter (Rochester, NY/East), Brandon Giles (Rochester, NY/Edison Tech) and
Brian Smith (North Tonawanda, NY/Nichols) finished fourth on Saturday in the 4x100’s IC4A race with a clocking of 41.28. Georgetown won the race in 41.03. The Bulls reached Saturday’s competition by placing fourth in their heat in 41.30. The time was the 26th fastest among the 80 entered teams. In the 4x200-meters, Porter, Giles,
James Graber (West Seneca, NY/Timon-St. Jude) and Smith placed eighth in their heat in 1:27.58. The time was 32nd among 52 squads but the Bulls were unable to move into the next round.
Hill, Godin Finish High in Jumping Events

In the Penn Relay’s women’s events, UB’s
Fatimah Hill (Waterport, NY/Lyndonville) was fifth among 23 entrants in the Eastern long jump as she cleared 19-1.25 (5.82m).
Caitlin Godin (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) finished seventh among 17 entrants in the Eastern high jump at 5-4.50 (1.64m). Four jumpers finished at 5-4.50 with Godin topping the list based on attempts.
Sebuharara and Brown Tie For First in Triple Jump

At the Hillsdale meet, the Bulls were led by a pair of jumpers as they tied for the top spot in their event.
Loic Sebuharara (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and
Chandler Brown (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) both leapt 46-4 (14.12m) to tie for first place in the men’s triple jump. The winning distance was just three-quarters of an inch ahead of the third-place finisher.
Women’s Javelin Throwers Take Second and Fourth

The UB women got a strong finish from its javelin throwers as
Vanessa Roelofsen (Alma, Ontario/Norwell District SS) and
Katie Weston (North Bay, Ontario/Widdifield SS) finished second and fourth, respectively. Roelofsen finished with a toss of 135-2 (41.20m) while Weston threw 130-2 (39.68m). Michigan State’s Zoe Pelbart won the event with a throw of 152-6 (46.48m).
Schedule Change Affects Weekend Competition
After the UB Invitational yielded a small amount of competition for the Bulls, it was decided that the UB Open, slated for Saturday, May 3, would be cancelled. Instead, the Bulls will travel to Ithaca for the Cornell Outdoor Invitational.
